Dubrovnik Travel Guide
Dubrovnik is probably the number one spot for visitors along Croatia’s coastline. In recent years it has made a number of headlines and travel itineraries thanks to the popular series Game of Thrones. Ever heard of it?
My first visit to Dubrovnik was in 2013 and, although I expected differently, not much has changed in the last ten or so years. And I say that in the best way possible. Dubrovnik still holds its old town charm. Even when you’re passing by the occasional Game of Thrones tour group or the Game of Thrones store, the city has held true to its culture.
And Croatia has a culture that is incredibly unique and enchanting. You can feel the all-encompassing, rich history that lives within the city walls. The unique setting on the Adriatic mixed with the friendly locals leaves no room to question why visitors seem to be flocking here.
Accommodations:
As tourism has increased and the cruise industry has been set with limitations, accommodations in Dubrovnik have only amplified. You’ll find a wide range of quaint hotels, cozy vacation rents, and even a few resorts.

Dubrovnik is home to many Michelin rated restaurants as well as some local gems. Whether you’re looking to find a family-owned konoba restaurant, or somewhere with tastes from around the world, you won’t go hungry.

A delicious Michelin rated restaurant with Panorama views located within the old city.
Buza Bar
A fun bar for drinks and jumping into the ocean. Located quite literally along the walls of the old city. There are two locations within the city but only one has cliff jumping.
Pepinos Gelateria
According to the locals (and long line of tourists) this is the best gelato in Dubrovnik. And trust me, nothing is better than cold creamy gelato after a day in the hot Croatian sun.

There is an endless amount to do in Dubrovnik – a perfect combination of activity, culture, fun, and relaxation.
Visit Endivo Winery
This underwater winery holds some of the most amazing wine in the country. Do a tasting or buy a bottle to take on a picnic to Lokrum island.
Walk around Dubrovnik Old Town
This is a must during your visit and you will most likely go several times during your stay. The old city of Dubrovnik is incredibly interesting and filled with rich history. Be sure to walk the ancient city walls to get panoramic views. The city is also filled with historic cafes, restaurants, and shops.
Lokrum Island
Located just off the mainland, this little island is about a 10-15 minute ferry ride from the port. There is no need to book in advance – simply head to the port and locate the big sign that says “Lokrum Island Ferry” to purchase a ticket for whenever you would like to head over. It’s easy to spend a few hours or the entire day there. The ferry from Dubrovnik harbor runs every 30 minutes and is about 200 kuna round trip. You’ll find peacocks all over the island, nature trails, hikes to the old fortress, swimming area, various restaurants/cafes and more.
Revelin nightclub
If you’re looking to have a dance or a few drinks, why not do it in an old castle? Revelin nightclub is one of the most famous clubs located just within the old city. Museum by day, club by night.
Copacabana Beach for sunset
Just south of the old city you’ll find Copacabana Beach club. Rent day beds or enjoy the Adriatic here and make sure to stay for sunset.
Take a day trip to Montenegro or Bosnia Herzegovina
These two countries are both incredibly close to Dubrovnik. Take a quick drive inland to Bosnia or a short ferry down the coast to Montenegro. We highly recommend spending a few days in Montenegro and Croatia is the perfect trip to tack it on to. See my Montenegro recs here.
